Plant of the Year
GNPS initiated an annual plant of the year program in 2000. The purpose of the GNPS Plant of the Year program is to recognize native plants in the landscape which benefit our wildlife and ecology. We highlight native plants that are under utilized in commercial and domestic landscapes or which are vital components of our Georgia ecology. We are looking beyond beauty, even though we acknowledge that this is often what draws us to a special native plant in the first place.
