Heritage Park workday
July 9, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Heritage Park is a county-owned park in central Cobb County. GNPS has been removing invasives and planting natives along the trail, as part of an ongoing project since 1998. Every month we push back the Chinese privet a bit further, by pulling it out of the ground. English ivy, Chinese wisteria, kudzu, and other non-native plants are present in this native forest tract also, and we work to remove them as well. We also tend the GNPS butterfly garden at the trailhead. Come join us for a morning in the woods – you’ll do a bit of physical labor, learn more about our native habitats, and make the acquaintance of dedicated volunteers. Bring work gloves, water to drink, and hand tools that you are comfortable using (such as saw, loppers, hand weeding tools, shovel, etc.), and dress for the weather. You may encounter some poison ivy here, but fortunately it is not plentiful at this site. See you soon. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
Note – in the summer months we start and finish one hour earlier to avoid the heat.
