Atlanta Chapter Formation & Urban Green Spaces
March 10, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
We are hosting a chapter formation meeting for the intown Atlanta area. Current GNPS members and interested non-members are all invited. We’ll talk about the formation process and how the GNPS State Board can help provide tools and assistance to get it started.
A local Atlanta chapter will help bring native plant education, workshop activities, and habitat conservation to our urban communities. By sharing our resources, knowledge, and experience, we can make a positive difference in our rapidly developing city.
Our first meeting will feature three speakers discussing their work with urban green spaces: Susan Hanson, who organizes restoration efforts at the Mary Scott Nature Park; Kevin McCauley, recently retired executive director of the Blue Heron Nature Preserve; and Steve Walker, a founding member of Friends of Thompson Park. We’ll also have GNPS t-shirts for sale.
This meeting will be held at the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s Day Hall. Social hour begins 6:30, and meeting from 7pm- 8:30 pm. The ABG is located at 1345 Piedmont Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30309. Tell the ABG staff you’re there for the GNPS meeting and the garden entrance fee will be waived. Parking is available in the adjacent SAGE parking deck, average cost $5 or less. GNPS member carpoolers earn discount parking vouchers- be sure to sign-in when you arrive.
