June 1, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Leaders: Leslie Edwards and Lillie Kline
Date: June 1
Time: 10:00 – 1:00
Description: Cascade Springs Nature Preserve is a beautiful, small preserve located within Atlanta, with a small, picturesque waterfall and an historic springs site. Plants in this mesic site include very old beeches and white oaks, big-leaf magnolias, Solomon’s seal, Solomon’s plume, nodding trillium, and bay-star vine. Other natural communities include oak-pine-hickory and seepage areas. We’ll listen for breeding warblers high in the canopy and keep an eye out for resident birds as well. Binoculars are encouraged.
Materials: we will supply hand-outs that describe some of the plants for birds, as well as right plant, right place – representative plants of each natural community
