Chapter Meeting in Brunswick (Propagation)

November 17, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Join us for the fall meeting of the Coastal Plain Chapter of the Georgia Native Plant Society

We will start with a Business meeting (attendance optional) then spend the rest of the day discussing “Native Plant Propagation” then end the day with a site tour.

Location: Altama Plantation WMA, 6844 GA Hwy 99 Brunswick GA 31525Time: 9:00 am ~ 3pm – business meeting / lecture / site tour

9:00 am – Business meeting & Welcome with update on state GNPS with Lane Conville-Canney.

9:45 am – General Propagation – Eamonn Leonard – GA DNR –

10:00 am – Greenhouse Pests & IPM – Joanna Lee – Horticulturalist Jekyll Island Club Resorts

10:30 am – Break

10:45 am – Speaker series – 15 mins each

  • Amy Heidt – Personal successes & CP GNPS Plant Sales
  • Gail Farley – Chapter President – Personal propagation successes & Pollinator initiatives
  • Karan Rawlins – Azalea propagation
  • Martha Joiner – Bog plants & Spring ephemerals
  • Scott Thompson – Propagation insights from a professional grower
  • Tim Estep – “Obtaining and Growing ESA Plants”

12:30 pm – Lunch

1:30 pm – Afternoon field trip – on site – 1.5 hours

Morning coffee & snacks; deli & salad platter for lunch (Provided). We are asking $15 to cover the cost of food.

Volunteer Opportunity – at Altama Plantation WMA

Friday Nov. 16th GA DNR will host a volunteer workday from 9-noon e-mail Eamonn at eamonn.leonard@dnr.ga.gov to volunteer or if you have any questions. We will work on maintaining the Native plant pollinator / formal garden and the grounds. Moderately strenuous.
