Mini-Spring Plant Sale and presentation on Atlanta’s Original and Old Growth Forest

March 14, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

If you pre-ordered plants, please plan to find us in front of the Atlanta Botanical Garden entrance at 5:30p to pick-up and pay for your plants. Checks, credit cards and exact cash are welcome. Stone Mountain Propagation will sell their plants in Day Hall.

Kathryn Kolb will give a presentation on why Atlanta is such an unique major city with original old growth forests that have been spared from war and natural destruction. Learn about what we have and why we should celebrate and save the forests!

The Atlanta metro area is rare among the world’s major cities because it retains remnants of our region’s original forest. Kathryn Kolb shows how the accidents of history spared many forested areas and how you can learn to identify these special places in your neighborhood or even your back yard, using native trees and indicator plant species. Kathryn shares interesting historical details and illustrates with wonderful photographs from Atlanta-area forests. She also offers tips on how to restore native forest in your yard, and lists books for further reading.

We will meet in Day Hall. Social time begins at 6p, GNPS announcements at 6:45p and presentation at 7p.
