Stone Mountain PP Workday/Counting Event
August 23, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Note: for this workday, we will also be taking some time for Pollinator Census Counting. Join us for that even if you can’t help with the workday. Insects wake up a little later so the counting may not start until 10 am. Come get to know us. We’ll provide the counting forms, blooming native plants, and help you figure out which bug is which!
Our plant propagation workdays are a weekly educational opportunity to learn about native plants. The propagation effort goes on all year long, and its success depends on regular volunteers. Please consider spending a few hours with us sometime during each month.
To have the gate fee waived tell the attendant you are there for the GNPS workday.
Directions: GPS coordinates 33.8130, -84.1595, to the ‘Walking Trails’ parking lot. Please follow these directions, do not depend on the gate attendants to give you directions. (Do not go to Confederate Hall, the ‘walk-up’ trail lot). You may see a street address here on the web site. It is the closest that Google will display reasonably correctly. The entrance is actually on Robert E. Lee Blvd., near “Safety Rd.” which is not an accessible road for visitors.
- If entering thru the WEST GATE off Memorial Dr … take a LEFT, the parking lot is on the left in about .2 mi. Park on the lower level & enter thru the small gate by the cabin. wander on down to the other cabins/shelters.
- From Hwy 78 and the main or EAST GATE … go straight then veer right at the y-intersection (toward Confederate Hall) the parking lot is on the right after about 1 mi.
Enter parking lot, park at the bottom of the hill, go thru the gate by the cabin and wander back towards the farther cabins and the hoop green house.
