Workshop/Fieldtrip: Gardening inspired by Piedmont Natural Communities

September 8, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

We’ve heard the mantra – right place for the right plant!  How do you build the skills you need to determine right place? We will explore six Piedmont natural communities in Sweetwater Creek State Park on a 2.5 mile loop trail.  We will distinguish different shade, moisture, and nutrient levels and how they affect the plants we see, and will talk about the ecology. Observing native plants as they grow in nature is very inspiring for the gardener. Workshop handouts will be provided. Bring a lunch to eat beside the beautiful rocky shoals of Sweetwater Creek.
