Workshop on Pruning and Rescuing Plants

January 16, 2016 @ 1:00 am - 3:30 pm

1:00 -2:15 pm – PRUNING: Every Cut Should Have a Purpose

Learn how to prune ornamental shrubs or trees, whether native or not, to preserve the natural form. Landscape consultant Barbara Dorfman will cover the tools you need, how to renew overgrown shrubs, how to avoid constant trimming, and when you can ignore the rules on when to prune.

2:30 – 3:30 pm – Curious about rescuing native plants with GNPS?

Marcia Winchester will explain her role as rescue facilitator to help you to identify plants, what tools and supplies to bring, and the range of plants and sizes you can expect to rescue. You will also learn skills you can use in transplanting from your own yard: how to transplant and package perennials or shrubs and how to hold them over long term when they can’t be planted immediately.
