SUMMARY:Mary Scott Nature Park Workday
DESCRIPTION:Come out on 1st Saturdays for Mary Scott Nature Park workdays! NEW workday hours: Noon to 2 pm from October to May\, and 10 am to Noon from June-Sept. Come to front entrance 4150 Briarcliff Rd.\n\n\n\nThis beautiful park is at a maintenance stage and is an excellent example of how an urban forest should look. Come out and learn about restoration\, do some good work and have fun!\n\nThese 10.6 acres of central DeKalb County greenspace\, acquired in 2003\, are a pocket of natural beauty in the midst of lawn-heavy 1960’s suburbia. The old homestead’s woods are battling exotic invasives and\, to a lesser extent\, historic landscape plants. Public education on the restoration process\, including that of a streambank\, is a goal for Mary Scott Nature Park. \nTo be added to our monthly reminder mailing list\, please email friendsofmsnp@gmail.com.

SUMMARY:Silver Certified Native Habitat Visit - Dunwoody
DESCRIPTION:Join the North Metro Atlanta Chapter for a guided tour of a Silver-certified residential property just north of the perimeter in Dunwoody. \nThis member began with a typical suburban lot in an HOA community\, where the previous owner had planted numerous non-native species. With time\, patience\, and a thoughtful love of native plants\, the landscape is being gradually transformed into a thriving habitat—featuring an ever-shrinking lawn\, 15 canopy tree species\, a rich mix of understory trees and shrubs\, and a diverse array of sedges\, ferns\, vines\, and forbs. \nIf you’re looking for inspiration on incorporating more keystone trees into your own space\, this Silver-certified native habitat is well worth a visit! \n\nIMPORTANT: Event is first-come\, first-served and limited to 12 GNPS members only.\nThe address of this private location will be disclosed upon registration.\nThis is a non-refundable event that will be held rain or shine\n\nClick here to register for this inspiring tour
