We are looking forward to getting started with our first work day at the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum!

Date/Time:  Saturday, March 21 from 9:30-12:30pm.  Please check in before starting any work.  Look for the sign at the Beech Circle.

What to Bring:  We desperately need wheelbarrows!  Please let us know if you have a wheelbarrow you can bring on Saturday.  Bring gloves, water bottle, and rake (some will be available).  If you bring tools, be sure and put your name on it.   What NOT to Bring:  Please don’t bring pruning shears, loppers or saws.

Activities:  We have the following assignments.

EVERYONE MUST SIGN A GNPS LIABILITY WAIVER FORM BEFORE STARTING TO WORK.

  • Sign in Desk – 1-2 people.
  • Wheelbarrow Crew:   We need multiple wheelbarrows to remove all the debris and take it around the corner underneath the Freedom Parkway Bridge to a composting area.
  • Debris Removal:  You will be assigned to an area to remove debris.  Debris may include cut or fallen limbs, last years perennials, etc.  We also need to dig up liriope, and mondo.  We have already cut all the invasive plants, they will just need to be removed from the site.  We have one area that is especially steep, let us know if you are interested!

Where to Park:  1) Street Parking near the site but difficult to find a space.  2) Public Parking Deck on N Highland a short walk from the site.  Cost about $6.  3) BeltLine Skate Park has free street parking and may not be crowded at 9:30am. Also a short walk under the Freedom Parkway Bridge to the site.  4) Carter Center Parking with a short walk down the Freedom Parkway Bike Trail.  (Ruby and I have not tried this one yet.)
