Nicholas Isom purchased a home on the west side of Atlanta and immediately landscaped the property with native plants. Lots of sun loving forbs and grasses make a pocket meadow in the front yard. Just a few plants from a long list are yarrow (Achillea millefolium), anise hyssop (Agastache foeniculum), mountain mint (Pycnanthemum incanum), and purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea). Under the red maple (Acer rubrum), American persimmon (Diospyros virginiana), and pecan (Carya illinoinensis) in the back yard are the shade perennials including goat’s beard (Aruncus dioicus), green and gold (Chrysogonum virginianum), crested iris (Iris cristata) and more. Nicholas received a silver award for his native plant landscape.
