The Humane Society of Blue Ridge has created a park where there was once a dump. The park is circular in design with inner and outer paths. Sweeping plantings of Monarda, Amsonia, Asclepias and Echinacea look spectacular in June surrounded by a forest. Signage explains the relationship between native plants, insects and birds. Deborah MacCarthy has led the efforts in this restoration and has accepted the Gold Level Award on behalf of the Humane Society Park.
