Report of Mary Scott Nature Park workday May 2, 2020

To flatten the curve of SARS-CoV-2 infections, the regularly scheduled park workday was cancelled. Since county parks were open for exercise, five Friends of Mary Scott Park exercised by pulling weeds. The goldenrod in the parking oval planting was weeded and dead headed. Another butterfly weed was planted. Ivy was pulled from trees and from the soil.

To deter off-trail social path use from the chimney area to the creek, debris was piled to obstruct the path.

Mouse-eared coreopsis continues to bloom in the parking oval.

The next scheduled workday will be Saturday, June 6, 2020, 2-4pm when we plan to continue removing nonnative plants, especially the English ivy off trees. Please bring your gardening gloves, soil knife/trowel, and kneeler to help.
