Responsibilities:
To provide members and non-members with up-to-date information on native plants, their habitat and their conservation in a one-day meeting that brings together a panel of native plant experts
Tasks:
Manages the annual symposium held in February each calendar year. The committee identifies topics, schedules speakers, creates a brochure, and arranges the logistics (including vendors and refreshments).
September- submit budget, book location for symposium, post date to main gnps calendar;
October-develop program, contact potential speakers, secure speaker agreements, develop speaker bios;
November-develop advertising, open registration; Dec-finalize details of event (food, rooms, etc.);
December – Provide info to Communications for email distribution to members and create News & Events announcement
January-obtain supplies for conference (folders, name tags, etc.), get speaker materials for copying, contact vendors with set-up details;
February- obtain final registration numbers, volunteers for day of, prepare speaker introductions. Symposium is held in Feb or March
