Five participants met at the Henderson Nature Preserve Park at Berkley Lake to plant wildflowers and remove weeds. It was a sunny morning. Since the lake is full, the overflow pipe was sending water to turn the paddle wheel so we had the music of running water to accompany our work. We deadheaded spent wildflowers. We continued removal of mulberry weed, chamber bitter, Lespedeza sp., and Microstegium. Two of us got our weight training exercise for the day by excavating a geologic feature that had been covered during county road work. We found mistflower, swamp sunflower, and white asters blooming.

After planting, weeding, and excavating, we lunched together.

The next  scheduled workday will be Wednesday, October 28, 2015, 10:00 – 12:00.
