North Georgia Mountains Feb 2024 Meeting

We will have a presentation by Martin Cipollini on the Chestnut Blight. The presentation will be followed by the planting of some chestnut trees he is donating to GMREC. Please bring gloves and tools if you can help plant.

Dr. Martin L. Cipollini is the Dana Professor of Biology at Berry College, Mount Berry, Georgia, where he teaches undergraduate courses such as Principles of Microbiology, Botany and Ecology, Forest Ecology and Tropical Ecology (Costa Rica/Cuba). A faculty member at Berry College since 1995, his current research activities revolve around the college’s Longleaf Pine and America Chestnut projects.  In his role as science coordinator for the Georgia Chapter of TACF, he has helped establish numerous chestnut orchards across the state.

The meeting is at the Georgia Mountain Research and Education Center, off of 19/129 a bit south of Blairsville: 195 Georgia Mtn Exprmnt Sta, 5928 30512, Hollow Hill Rd, Blairsville, GA 30512
