Georgia’s State Wildlife Action Plan (SWAP) is being updated by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GADNR) and your feedback is welcome. The purpose of this statewide strategy is to guide conservation efforts for Species of Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN) and their habitats for the next ten years (2025-2035), before these animals and plants become rarer and more costly to conserve and restore. Community feedback helps GADNR improve the plan before it is submitted to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for approval.

We encourage you to surf around the website to see the incredible work put into this plan. The instructions below focus on getting you to the information about plant conservation.

  1. To orient yourself to the SWAP website and resources, we recommend you watch the video.
  2. Go to the draft SWAP portal.
  3. Scroll down this page and click on the Conservation Action Tracker. This will bring you to a GIS map.
  4. There are 100 conservation actions. To review those related to plants, choose the first Search menu at the top of the screen called “Search Action by Title” and type “plant” in the search box. The list within that box will appear to change. Navigate to the bottom of the box and choose “Select All.” On the left, those Actions will be listed under Comprehensive Conservation Actions and you can select each one to read more details.
  5. To understand the scope of the SWAP for plants, you can also review the Plant Technical Team report.
