Rick and Denise Hartline have turned their suburban Gwinnett County yard into a native plant oasis with mature hardwoods in the back and smaller trees such as sourwood, dogwood  and bigleaf magnolia in the front.  In this gold-certified habitat, a variety of understory natives thrive in the ground as well as in pots and planters.  Denise began planting natives on her property probably 25 years ago before she met and married Rick.  Rick has done much rock work building steps and walls adjacent to their driveway as well as being the primary weeder on the property.
