Let’s grow more people who love native plants!
Support our educational opportunities with a gift to the Roots and Shoots Spring Campaign.
Education is the root of change. As the go-to source for all things native plants, Georgia Native Plant Society is committed to helping people secure their roots and grow their shoots into the world of native plants.
The Roots and Shoots Spring Campaign focuses on growing our educational opportunities. This year your support will allow us to:
- Launch the GNPS Educational Pathway, an online hub for self-paced native plant learning (read more below);
- Provide scholarships to UGA’s Certificate in Native Plants program;
- Award the Jeane Reeves Research Grant to forward the study of native plants in Georgia; and
- Revise and distribute key educational materials such as the Piedmont Landscaping Brochure.
We hope you will join us in growing more people who love native plants.

What is the GNPS Educational Pathway?
We believe that people should have a one-stop shop for learning about native plants, where learning is self-directed and self-paced. The idea for the Educational Pathway came from feedback we have received over the years that there are an overwhelming number of resources on native plants and it’s hard to figure out where to start.
Last year, we conducted a survey to figure out what people are most interested in learning about. From there the concept for the GNPS Educational Pathway was born and our Education Committee set out to develop a curriculum.
The goal of this project is to provide a way for people to more easily access the most helpful and trusted information on native plants. The GNPS Educational Pathway will serve as a central hub for curated resources delivered in 10 modules of learning. Here is a snapshot of what it will look like:

Currently, the Pathway is being reviewed by a group of test users. This summer we will incorporate the feedback from the test group and prepare the platform for launch before the end of the year. Help us get to launch with a donation to the Roots and Shoots Spring Campaign!
