Report of Mary Scott Nature Park workday April 4, 2020

Because DeKalb County CEO Thurmond had decreed a shelter-in-place order to flatten the curve of SARS-CoV-2 infections, the regularly scheduled park workday was cancelled. Since county parks were open for exercise, two neighbors of Mary Scott Park exercised by pulling weeds. One bag of English ivy was removed and one bag of miscellaneous weeds was removed from the parking oval, but more chickweed remains to be removed.

Mouse-eared coreopsis were blooming in the parking oval. For a lockdown, there was a lot of traffic on Briarcliff.

The next scheduled workday will be Saturday, May 2, 2020, 2-4pm when we plan to continue removing nonnative plants, especially the English ivy off trees. Please bring your gardening gloves, soil knife/trowel, and kneeler to help.
