The Friends of Thomson Park are still going strong, logging 117 volunteer hours so far (as of mid-March) in 2024.  DeKalb County just recently completed a major project in the park, and we are looking forward to a vital stream repair and restoration project in 2025-2026 which will have a major impact on our GNPS site.  Come check out the park and see what we’ve done over the last several years; we’d love to see you!

We alternate our ‘official’ workdays between Sunday afternoons from November through March, and Saturday mornings from April through October. In addition, we often meet in small groups during the week to work in and around the habitat restoration site. Here’s what’s coming up in 2024:

Saturday, April 20       9am – noon
Saturday, May 18        9am – noon
Saturday, June 15      9am – noon
Saturday, July 20        9am – noon
No official workday in August
Saturday, September 21   9am – noon

Saturday, October 19        9am – noon
Sunday, November 17      2 – 5pm
Sunday, December 15      2 – 5pm

If you make it to one of our workdays, please wear sturdy shoes and bring work gloves, though we do provide clean work gloves if you forget.  We also provide tools, water, and snacks. Don’t feel obligated to stay the full time; any time spent here, whether it’s 20 minutes or 3 hours, is greatly appreciated!  Come on out and visit sometime, and enjoy a hike in the woods while you’re here.
