GNPS North Metro Atlanta Chapter invites its members to join the Alpharetta Community Agriculture Program’s (ACAP) Workday on Saturday, September 7 with the goal of continuing the removal of invasive plants in the Old Rucker Park Habitat Restoration Project. Michael Cowan, a GNPS board member and business partner of native habitat restoration company ReForestATL, will be leading the effort, which will focus on invasive plant removal along the nature trail Eagle Scout Nathaniel Smith completed this past spring. According to Kristen Orr, volunteer and education coordinator for ACAP, 14 workday participants have already agreed to help, including a group from the Young Men’s Service League Forsyth County. Participants are advised to bring drinking water, gloves and insect repellent, and to wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants and closed-toed shoes. If you plan on helping, please sign up here.
