Seasonal Explorations of Native Plants in the Piedmont – Virtual Winter Session: “The Resurrection”

January 8, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Free
Join the North Metro Atlanta chapter virtually to learn about how native ecosystems prepare for the resurrection of spring in the depth of the winter season.  While things may look lifeless, there are many life-changing transformations occurring under the cover of those leaves on the forest floor. In fact, many of our native plant seeds require the winter dormancy to germinate in the spring—a process of stratification. Learn how our native plants have evolved to survive and thrive through the winter dormancy in the 3rd session of a quarterly education series presented by Dr. Jonathan Storm, biology professor at the University of South Carolina Upstate.
Dr. Storm also manages the Southern Piedmont Natural History Facebook page that features daily posts focused on the natural history of the Piedmont region of the Carolinas and Georgia.
NOTE: This event is free and open to the public. A link to the webinar recording will be emailed to registrants following the live event (you do not need to attend the webinar to register).
