The chapter’s February meeting will focus on gardening tools—how to get them ready for spring and keep them in good shape all year round.  Our speaker, Mike Handyside, is uniquely qualified.  In addition to having a background in metalwork, he is a Friend of the Carroll County Master Gardeners with over 200 service hours, and he’s responsible for maintaining the tools used in the CCMG Demo Garden.

Mike will explain why you need to clean your tools and what cleaning materials you should use.  He’ll also discuss edged tools, including types of edge profiles, and how to manually sharpen your tools.  He’ll be bringing a selection of tools to demonstrate.

In addition to the tools Mike is bringing, you’re invited to bring your own favorite gardening tool to display at the meeting.  After the presentation, everyone will have an opportunity to circulate and check out the tools.

There will be a reception at 6:30 with light refreshments, followed by the presentation at 7:00.
