The Intown Atlanta chapter of GNPS will be hosting census takers/visitors at four different sites across Atlanta this year. From 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on August 19, we’ll have tables and volunteers passing out Census forms, answering questions and helping to identify pollinators – and of course native plants.

Please join us any of these locations:

Mason Mill Park
Woodlands Garden
Tucker Butterfly Garden
Herbert Taylor Daniel Johnson Park

We’d love to see you out there and show your support for our mission and GNPS but of course you can also step out your backdoor and pick a plant to watch in your own yard! Let’s just get those count numbers up.

The Great Southeast Pollinator Census count (GSPC) is a citizen science project coordinated by the University of Georgia Extension to encourage Georgians to learn more about insects and be open to planting a pollinator habitat with native plants. It is also designed to be straightforward enough so non-scientists can help researchers by collecting data and documenting pollinator numbers in Georgia. It only takes 15 minutes, and you can even do it more than once! In 2021, almost 6,000 participants recorded data, documenting more than 139,500 insect visits tallied in Georgia and South Carolina! The helpful UGA site has instructions and a short video showing how to participate in the count.
