Lynda and Bob Pollock love gardening with native plants on their 2/3 acre lot in Lilburn. The only lawn is a narrow path in the front of the house. They have a shaded property which is perfect for their ferns like northern maidenhair (Adiantum pedatum), royal fern (Osmunda regalis), southern wood fern (Dryopteris ludoviciana), and a dozen more species. Another nice feature of the landscaping is the use of shrubs like red chokeberry (Aronia arbutifolia), winterberry (Ilex verticillata), and buttonbush (Cephalanthus occidentalis). Vines such as coral honeysuckle (Lonicera sempervirens), Dutchman’s pipe vine (Aristolochia macrophylla), and Virginia creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia) are found on arbors, fences and the ground. Congratulations for the gold level award!
