Report of Mary Scott Nature Park Workday January 8, 2022

On January 8,2022, 5 Friends of Mary Scott Nature Park worked to remove nonnative plants from the park. We were joined by 2 Lakeside High School students. Among the weeds that were pulled were English ivy, Japanese honeysuckle, and Vinca minor. Some green-and-gold was relocated from the parking oval and replanted with some little blue along the edge of the grassy field.

Surprisingly black eyed Susans and dwarf coreopsis are still blooming in the parking oval. The Georgia asters are sporting puffballs of seeds.

On January 17, 2022, there will be two sessions of the MLK Day of Service in the park: 10:00-12:00 and 14:00-16:00.

The next scheduled workday will be Saturday, February 5, 2022, 2-4 pm, when we plan to continue removing nonnative plants from the park. Please bring your gardening gloves, soil knife/trowel, and kneeler to help us improve the park for fauna.
