Report of Mary Scott Nature Park workday October 6, 2018

October 6, 2018 was unusually hot and dry, but nine volunteers pulled weeds from two areas of Mary Scott Nature Park that had been planted with native plant material. Yellow whorled sunflowers were blooming in the southeast corner of the park along Briarcliff Road. Blue mistflower was blooming in a few locations. Many pollinators were working the mountain mint. The magenta berries of beautyberry were attractive.

The next scheduled workday will be Saturday, November 3, 2018, 2-4 pm when we plan to remove vines and other plants imprisoning the trash that we plan to remove November 9. Please bring your gardening gloves, soil knife/trowel, and kneeler to help.
