Meander along the paths anytime of year and you will discover that this 8 acre public garden in Decatur looks great in every season. Thanks to a knowledgable staff and dedicated volunteers, Woodlands Garden achieved a gold level award for a native plant habitat. The recently landscaped area around the parking lot has all native plants. In the forest, you will find the champion trees of bigleaf magnolia (Magnolia macrophylla), cucumber magnolia (Magnolia acuminata), and devil’s walking stick (Aralia spinosa). On the forest floor live Virginia bluebells (Mertensia virginica),toothwort (Cardamine diphylla), and fairy-wand (Chamaelirium luteum).
