Our December 10 work day was productive and well attended. Many thanks to the volunteers from Cobb Watershed Stewardship who came out to help pull privet!  In addition to privet, wisteria and English ivy were also removed, and a very interesting display on violets was posted on the pavilion bulletin board.

Our next work day will be Saturday, January 14, from 10 to noon.  We’ll continue clearing wisteria and privet in the Nickajack Creek floodplain area by the pedestrian bridge, and putting in native plants to prevent bank erosion. We’ll also attack some areas like the one near the power line cut that are experiencing privet re-growth. Finally, we’ll continue to remove ivy and other invasives from the upper slope area near Nickajack Rd. We welcome all volunteers. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring work gloves.
