The June 10 Heritage Park work day was very productive. Down by Nickajack Creek, invasive privet (Ligustrum sinense), wisteria (Wisteria sinensis), and perilla (Perilla frutescens) were removed. We filled the dumpster with our trimmings — although we found it already half full of illegally deposited old furniture and other household discards. Three passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) vines were discovered growing where we had previously cleared. At the Pavilion Garden we were thrilled by the display put on by the Black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta) we planted there last fall; and the latest bulletin board installation looked absolutely spectacular!  Park and trail were well used by numerous visitors who were enjoying the early summer weather. Many of them paused to tell us how they appreciate what we are doing.

Our next work day will be Saturday, July 8, weather permitting. Please see our Facebook group for updates on work day scheduling.
